SECOND COMING

Because the last half of Daniel's 70th week begins with the reign of Antichrist and ends with the return of Christ, the 70 weeks timeline IS NOT COMPLETE WITHOUT the Second Coming.

It stands to reason, therefore, that if Gabriel gave Daniel the exact year of His First Coming, he'd also give him the exact year of His Second Coming.

He did. It's been in the Bible for 2,500 years.

Praise Jesus for evermore!

Why are the 69 weeks that led to the first appearance of Messiah divided into TWO sections?

Why divide them into TWO periods of 7 weeks and 62 weeks, respectively? Why not simply say "69 weeks"?

For years I've read and heard all the SPECULATION about how the 7 weeks [49 years] marked the time it took Nehemiah to rebuild the city. Baloney! There's no historic evidence of that anywhere.

The temple had already been rebuilt, and it took them only 52 days to rebuild the wall [Nehemiah 6:15]. WHY would it take all those years to rebuild the TINY, TINY city INSIDE those walls? No way!

Even if Israeli builders had all suffered from acute rheumatoid arthritis, it wouldn't have taken ANYWHERE CLOSE TO 49 years: 1-3 years TOPS.

To be fair, God did tell Daniel these things would be "sealed" UNTIL the time of the end. In other words, they wouldn't be understood UNTIL OUR TIME.

The other conjectural view is that 49 years is the time that elapsed between the commandment by Cyrus to rebuild THE TEMPLE [not the city] in 535 B.C. and the decree of Artaxerxes to rebuild THE CITY in 445 B.C.

There are two problems with that theory. There's NO WAY to get 49 years between those two dates, which are 90 years apart. Plus, the 70 weeks prophecy doesn't mention any decree to rebuild the temple, ONLY to rebuild THE CITY.

So what's the answer?

The reason there's a division of TWO distinct time periods in the "69 weeks" is that there will be TWO COMINGS OF MESSIAH PRINCE.

Keeping in mind that the original Hebrew text contained no paragraphs and no punctuation marks, but was all one long, CONTINUOUS text:

"FROM the word [dabar] to return [lehashiv] and build Jerusalem TO Messiah Prince SHALL BE 7 weeks"...

For this prophecy to be true, THERE MUST BE a 7-week [49 year] period from an order to restore and build Jerusalem to Messiah Prince. There's NO WAY OF GETTING AROUND that.

There have been only TWO DECREES IN HISTORY to "return and rebuild" Jerusalem.

The first was Artaxerxes' decree in 445 B.C., mentioned above.

The second decree came on April 1, 1969 [14 Aviv 2759, Passover Eve] when the Knesset voted to restore and rebuild Jerusalem, i.e., "bring the Jewish Quarter to life again".

The act created the Company for the Reconstruction and Development of the Jewish Quarter of Jerusalem", a/k/a Jewish Quarter Development Company.

The JQDC is also in charge of ALL building projects in the Old City.

What we presently call "the Jewish Quarter", plus the Southern part of Mt. Moriah, is the Jerusalem that EXISTED at the time that prophecy was given.

It's the Jerusalem Daniel knew as a youth, before being deported to Babylon, the one he loved and was interceding for when he received the message from Gabriel.

Other portions of the Old City were added much later.

The second temple, which occupied Southern Mount Moriah, had ALREADY been rebuilt by 516 B.C.

Therefore, the ONLY "Jerusalem", EXISTING AT THAT TIME [5th century B.C.], that remained in need to be rebuilt is what we presently know as the "Jewish Quarter". Hence, it's the "Jerusalem" the 70 weeks prophecy applies to.

The Jewish quarter was decimated during the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. Jews were besieged, evicted en masse, denied access, their property confiscated, their synagogues desecrated, their homes turned to rubble.

The Jordanian commander who led the operation boasted to his superiors "For the first time in 1,000 years, NOT A SINGLE JEW REMAINS in the Jewish Quarter. Not a single building remains intact. This makes the Jews' return here IMPOSSIBLE".

Guess again, Bubba.

The reason there's a division in the "69 weeks" is that it reveals the timing of both the First and Second Comings of our Lord. Praise His lovely Name!

God always reveals THE END from the beginning.

Daniel 9:26 is careful to point out that it's after the last 62-week portion, during His First Coming, that Messiah would be killed.

If the 62-week portion led to His first coming, the 7-week portion MUST lead us to His Second Coming.

Hence, 7 weeks [49 years] is the time that will transpire from the SECOND decree to rebuild Jerusalem to His SECOND coming.

There will be 7 weeks [49 years] from June 6, 1969 when the actual rebuilding began, to Messiah's Second Coming.

49 Hebrew years of 360 days = 17,640 days.

They take us to the Fall of 2017, which is when Jesus' Second Coming will take place.

SWEET SURPRISE

May I have your attention, please? I'm about to CONTRADICT myself.
I'm about to do a 180 on something I said earlier, namely, that the Rapture would PROBABLY NOT happen this year, but the next. I hate to disappoint some of you but Jesus and His Holy Spirit come FIRST, and I will obey His promptings, if I have to contradict myself 10,000 times.
Well couldn't He have given me this revelation BEFORE I wrote the message entitled "NOT THIS YEAR" on 8/7/11?
Sure. He COULD HAVE.
WHY He didn't, I don't know and, frankly, DON'T CARE.
He's God. He's sovereign. He can do WHATEVER He wants WHENEVER He wants, and His TIMING is ALWAYS PERFECT.
As I shared with you recently, MENTALLY I've known for quite some time that the "word" to return and build Jerusalem, as Daniel 9:25 requires, was given sometime between 1967 -1969.
The reason I opted for the April 1, 1969 date was because it was the most "official" decree I could find on the matter and, also, because ACTUAL RECONSTRUCTION of the Quarter began shortly thereafter. 1969 was also the LATEST year that could be construed as the "word" being given.
I didn't want to run the risk of picking the EARLIEST date and then being disappointed.
However, the Holy Spirit has been dealing with me on this for quite some time and, most recently, REALLY HIT MY CONSCIOUSNESS with the fact it happened EARLIER than 1969.
Matter of fact He so impressed me with this fact recently, that I haven't been able to think of MUCH ELSE since.
I know from previous experiences with the Spirit that when He impresses me LIKE THAT and the impression LINGERS LIKE THAT, and obsesses me LIKE THAT, that not only is it true, but THERE'S BIG REVELATION BEHIND IT.
And when He BACKS IT UP WITH SCRIPTURE, then I KNOW we're really on to something.
There's a BIG DIFFERENCE between simply assimilating something MENTALLY and getting the Spirit REVELATION of it, where He just opens up the written Word and makes us "see".
Jesus told Daniel that one of the signs the great tribulation is approaching would be that "knowledge shall be increased" (Daniel 12:4).
He also stated that these things would remain "sealed" UNTIL the time of the end: Then, and only then, would they be FULLY understood by "the wise" (Daniel 12:4, 9, 10).
As I told you before, the closer we get to "the time of the end", THE MORE KNOWLEDGE we should all expect.
I said all that to say this: The Lord has both impressed me, and SHOWN ME IN HIS WORD in recent days, that ALL that was needed to fulfill this prophecy was A WORD from the man at the top, so to speak.
He took me back to the Book of Nehemiah and, sure enough, ALL that was needed for the FIRST part of this prophecy, leading to the FIRST appearance of Messiah Prince, was THE WORD OF King Artaxerxes of Persia.
There was no deliberating body, like the Knesset, and NO VOTE taken. So, why would ANY OF THAT be required THIS TIME?
The answer is: it's NOT.
The "WORD" from former Prime Minister David Ben Gurion came THE DAY AFTER Jerusalem was recovered by Israel, on June 8, 1967. His successor, Prime Minister Levi Eshkol, also gave a similar word in 1967.
Within days of recovering Jerusalem, as early as June 19, 1967, Arabs were being evicted from the Jewish Quarter and rubble was being removed to clear the streets and provide access.
Within days, basic living conditions (water, sewage, electricity, broken windows, and doors) were being restored and Jews were MOVING IN.
The "word" had been given, from the top, to "RETURN AND BUILD".
While it's true that MAJOR rebuilding did not begin until 1969, the same thing happened in Nehemiah's time.
Artaxerxes gave the word, in the month of Aviv (Nisan) in the 20th year of his reign (Nehemiah 2:1).
Nehemiah set out for the Holy Land, arrived in Jerusalem, inspected the damage for three days, then he and the men that accompanied him (that RETURNED with him) began rebuilding the wall, which took 52 days (Nehemiah 6:16).
They made certain repairs FIRST, then began MOVING IN and LIVING IN Jerusalem, BEFORE the city itself was rebuilt (Nehemiah 7:4; 11:1-3).
Except for having to rebuild the wall, that's EXACTLY they way it happened in 1967-1969:
They began to make basic repairs first, restoring access and utilities, then moving into the Quarter, THEN plans were drawn, archeological sites designated, then there was an OFFICIAL Knesset vote to appropriate funds for the reconstruction and so forth, then actual MAJOR reconstruction began.
Do you realize what this means? If the word was given in 1967, instead of 1969, it's a WHOLE NEW BALLGAME time wise.
THIS is Good News!!!
I'll share the new timeline with you on the next message.

oh pookaloo

if i am understanding this correctly, he is counting 49 years from 1969 for the second coming which would be 2018, but you need to subtract at least 7 years for the rapture to occur before the tribulation if you are a pre trib which i think he said he was earlier, but the he alsp said the rapture would be next year (in his opinion) that confuses me

bro.martel believes that daniel 9:26-27 refers to Jesus Christ, not the antichrist.. Jesus confirmed the covenant that God made with abraham and through His death, burial and resurection, it was Jesus Who causes the sacrifice and oblation to cease which is evident because God no longer requires a sacrifice for sins... Jesus's precious blood does what the bulls' and rams' blood could not, wash us clean!! bro.martel summizes that the convenant was broken half way through because Jesus was crucified...leaving only 3 1/2 years left of daniel's 70 week oppossed to 7 years....

Antichrist will NOT sign a peace treaty with anybody, much less for 7 years, since he'll only appear on earth for the last 3½ years of the tribulation.

This "treaty" is pure religious fabrication resulting from erroneous exegesis of Daniel 9:27 which reads: "he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week" (Which, in prophetic lingo, refers not to a literal week (7 days), but a sabbatical week (7 years).

To "confirm", according to the dictionary, means to "ratify, reinforce or make formally valid something that already exists".

You can't "confirm" something that doesn't [already] exist.

The Antichrist is NOWHERE mentioned in this verse.

The word "peace" is found NOWHERE in this verse.

The word "treaty" is not found either.

NOWHERE does it state that the covenant is made, then broken. The words "make" and "break" are not found there, either.

Therefore, this verse doesn't refer to a future covenant, but to the already existing covenant between God and Abraham's seed.

The "He" mentioned here isn't the Antichrist, but the Messiah, Jesus Christ. Jesus, not the Antichrist, is the subject and focus of this prophecy [Daniel 9:25].

The Antichrist, I repeat, is not even mentioned.

seriously folks, you all need to stop this second guessing GODS timeline for things, the rapture is a number based event ( the fulliness of the gentiles come in) NOT some random guess based on construction permits or calendar based concepts... while the establishment of the state of Israel is a clue to the last generation and did start the prophetic clock, it is NOT the reason for speculation and charts and graphs, YOU ARE supposed to be WARNING the world what is coming, NOT marking your calendar, for some sort of countdown. i have grown weary of members of this site continuing with this useless and irrelevant blather, and will be spending my time else where.. God Bless and keep you all........

lets play RAPTURE LOTTO! ... what does the winner get? If you are a born again blood bought child of GOD, you already have the winning ticket. I can see it now... YOU are standing before the KING of KINGS and LORD of LORDS, and he says " you flubbed talking to so and so about the plan of salvation, but good pick on the rapture date" how will you feel then. is there a special crown for guessing? stick to the program and see the bigger picture !!

i agree

that we should be reaching the lost and that it should be our number one priority...people need Jesus!!
however i believe that there isn't anything wrong with studying God's word and sharing what we may learn with each other...as far as date setting... we will never get the date right because only God the Father knows... if you would read the full study the author clearly states he is not setting a specific date only speculating that we are in the season of the fufillment of endtimes... which is evedent by all of the activity on rap-con!!!

I'm not going to speculate as to an EXACT day.
And neither are you.
Please, please, please DO NOT bombard me with emails giving me SPECIFIC dates and SPECULATIVE REASONS as to WHY it will happen ON THAT SPECIFIC DAY. Every one of those SPECIFIC DAYS that has been sent to me in the past HAS BEEN WRONG.
And they'll be wrong this time, too. Jesus said NO ONE knows THE EXACT day (Matthew 24:36). I freely admit I don't know it, and neither do you.
So, fair warning to all the would-be experts: You'll be wasting your time because your email will be ignored and deleted.

The tribulation is for 7 yrs not 3 and a half. the great tribulation is 3 and a half yrs that is after the abomination of desolation in which the anti-christ declares himself god and the false prophet makes an idol of him to speak and move etc.

Hold on just one minute...

9:26 Messiah be cut off. If the 483-year period began in 446 B.C., its end would seem to be in A.D. 37. However, there is much evidence that what might be called a “prophectic year” was 360 days instead of 365. The original created year was apparently twelve 30-day months (compare Ge 7:11, 24; 8:3,4). Also, the year associated with the end times seems to be the same (Re 11:2-3). If this factor were applied to the 70-week prophecy, then 483 calendar years would only be 476 prophectic years. Allowing for the fact that Jesus was actually born about 4 B.C. (this was the date when King Herod died, soon after Jesus was born), then the terminal date of the prophecy becomes sometime in A.D. 30, the year when Jesus was between 33 and 34 years of age. This, of course is the year of His crucifixion, when He was “cut off, but not for himself.” This prophecy was given in about 536 B.C., well over half a millennium before its fulfillment. The probability that Daniel could guess the date of the manifestation and crucificion of the Messiah is essentially zero. Only supernatural inspiration can account for fulfilled prophecies like this. In fact, these events were fulfilled almost two centuries even after the date assigned to Daniel by liberal scholars who deny that such prophecies can be valid.

9:26 prince that shall come. The “prince that shall come” is obviously NOT “Messiah the prince,” for He will have been “cut off.” In the context of the previous prophecies given be Daniel, this prince can be none other than the “the king of the fierce countenance” of the preceding chapter (8:23).

9:26 the sanctuary. The city and sanctuary were destroyed by the Roman general (later emperor) Titus in A.D. 70. This would indicate that the coming evil prince would be a great leader from one of the many nations which eventually developed out of the old Roman Empire.

9:26 a flood. The “flood” marking the end of the destruction of Jerusalem can also be translated “overflowing,” probably referring to the great dispersion of the Jews into all nations, enforced by the Romans in A.D. 135.

9:26 desolations are determined. A better translation might be “and unto the end wars and desolations are determined.” When Messiah, the Prince of Peace, was “cut off,” peace was permanently cut off from the world as well. This is another remarkable prophecy. In the 1,900-plus years since, there have been “wars and rumors of wars” (Ma 24:6) on one part of the world or another practically every year.

9:27 he shall confirm. The antecedent of “he” must be the person last mentioned, that is “the prince that shall come” (9:26), the one whose “people” had destroyed the city. The context (very important) in these verses seems clearly to preclude ANY reference to Messiah! This can be none other than the future Antichrist.

9:27 one week. Finally the 70th week begins, with a treaty (covenant) made by the Antichrist the the Jews, apparently allowing them to reestablish their temple and its ceremonies in Jerusalem. But note that this “week” of seven years only begins after the following events have taken place after the 69th week was finished: (1) The Messiah has been cut off, or put to death (A.D. 30); (2) Jerusalem and its temple have been destroyed (A.D. 70); (3) the Jewish people have been exiled into all the nations (A.D. 135); (4) Wars and desolations persist in the world to the end (at least from A.D. 135 to the present and beyond).

9:27 midst of the week. The future 7-year period will be divided into two halves. The first 3 ½ years will see the ancient temple worship restored in Jerusalem, under the protection of “the prince that shall come,” who will have achieved sufficient power by this time to make such a treaty. The last half will begin when he breaks this treaty, (oblation to cease), and demands worship of himself and his satanic master, setting up his own image in the holy place (8:9-12; Ma 24:15-21; 2 Th 2:3-4). Much of the Book of Revelation is occupied with the details of this climactic 7-year period of world history.

9:27 overspreading of abominations. The “overspreading of abominations” can be paraphrased as the “ultimate in blasphemous idolatry.” “Abomination” is a word often used in Scripture for an idol, and “overspreading” refers to wings. In citing this even as still future, Christ acknowledged that Daniel was, indeed, a prophet.

We must be cautious to look at the WHOLE counsel of God’s word “IN CONTEXT” lest we be mis-led.

The above was taken from Dr. Henry M. Morris. You might know him as the founder of “The Institute for Creation Research”.

while i understand your point of view, i don't believe it's fair for you to put down saints who are looking forward to and long for Jesus' return...
Admonishment is not the same as a put down.. 'preaching to the choir" is not the same as "preaching to the masses" and is not the Great Commission we are instructed to carry out,
however i believe that there isn't anything wrong with studying God's word and sharing what we may learn with each other...as far as date setting... we will never get the date right because only God the Father knows...
you are absoulutely correct! never said there was any thing wrong with it. but go back and read the posts your self... you don't see speculation and second guessing amoung the posts there? in other words ..Distraction from the main focus... I have NO doubt as to your enthusiasm or longing for the LORDS return, nor should you doubt mine... here's where we part ways... I AM SCARED to DEATH I will look around heaven and NOT see some one I love, I am not scared as to when/ where or how the LORDS return happens, I already have that assurance, my admonishment WAS , instead or plotting Comets, posting what some author says is his view of the rapture, or debating who has the most longing for the LORDS return. WE should be doing what we are told, TO GO and Preach the good news to every creature, I stand by my comments as I was led to say them, not because of some perceived slight.... see ya on the other side... soon :)

i am like you in that i too have loved ones who i'm scared for because i know their eternal destination if they don't receive Christ... all we can do is tell them then allow the Holy Spirit to do His work... in the end as long as we have told them the Lord will not hold us accountable for the decision they choose to make....

ezekiel 3:19 :
Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.

ezekiel 3:21
Nevertheless if thou warn the righteous [man], that the righteous sin not, and he doth not sin, he shall surely live, because he is warned; also thou hast delivered thy soul.

those loved ones i continue to pray for them...as for the rest of the world... we tell who is willing to listen and then just pray... like i stated before telling others about the gospel is our number one priority as believers.. God equips us all to use us for His glory as He sees fit. please do not assume that because i share articles that point to the possible nearness of the rapture that i don't think reaching the lost is not a priority. i share these articles to encourage my family in Christ and for us to be like the bereans and search out thescriptures...please don't assume those things about me...

you say you didn't assume anything about me, but you just did!!! you assumed i was a man!!! evidently you haven't read all of the comments or all of this commentary because i already addressed that i am a woman and explained the use of this name.... and if you are trying to point out that you may have evangelized in southeast asia.. all glory goes to GOD for using you in that capacity and may He continue to use you for His glory, God bless ...

Php 3:17- Only let us hold to what we have already attained and walk and order our lives by that...Brethern, together follow my example and observe those who live after the pattern we have set for you...For there are many, of whom I have often told you and now tell you even with tears, who walk (live) as enemies of the cross of Christ (the Annointed One)....siding with earthly things and being of their party...

The fruit of a relationship with God is not partisanship / borg thinking...

James 3:14-...But if you have bitter jealousy (envy) and contention (rivalry, selfish ambition) in your hearts, do not pride yourself on it and thus be in defiance of and false to the Truth...

This (superficial, carnal) wisdom is not such as comes down from above (heavenly), but is earthly, unspiritual (animalistic) even devilish (demonic)...

For where ever there is jealousy (envy) and contention (rivalry and selfish ambition), there will also be confusion (unrest, disharmony, rebellion) and all sort of evil & vile practices....

Every believer needs to expect to have their FAITH tested (as a pattern) repeatedly as Jude summarizes in v.11

Jude 11...Woe unto them! for they have run riotiously in the way of Cain, and have abandoned themselves for the sake of gain (it offers them, following) the error of Balaam, and have perished in rebellion (like that) of Korah!

Cain - intellectually smarter than God (religion) vain glory vs. God's Omniscience
Balaam - bribes, money & materialism vain glory vs. God's Omnipresense
Korah - power & community organizing (politics) vain glory vs. God's Omnipotence

Intellectualism, vain gain, partisanism are all major parts of Religious Denominationalism...

Carefully Hear...Faith in God's Goodness...Matzah
Carefully Consider...Truth in God's Mercy...Shabua
Carefully Live...Grace in God's Light...Sukkah
