Netanyahu: Israel willing to 'cede parts of our homeland' for true peace

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Monday that Israel would be prepared to compromise and "cede parts of our homeland" for true peace with the Palestinians, but added that he did not believe the latter was ready to be a true partner for peace.

A Palestinian government that comprises representatives of Hamas, a movement that refuses to recognize Israel's right to exist, is not a government with which it would be possible to make peace, said Netanyahu.

Abdicate's analysis:
Rabin was planing on giving up land for peace and was assassinated; Sharon gave up Gaza and 5 months later was in a vegetative state; I pray Netanyahu reconsiders his position. As for the U.S. Roosevelt agreed not to permit while he was president a Zionist state (a promise to King of Saudi Arabia) a week later to the day, President Roosevelt was dead. Two weeks after pressuring Sharon to give up Gaza, Katrina hit. These are all verifiable dates. Don't mess with the Land. Jew, Gentile, Muslim or Christian that divides the Land will find themselves on the wrong side of God's wrath. Joel 3:2 "I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land."

True Peace

True Peace in this world is fleeting, the only real peace that I have found is in God alone. I only wish that his faith would be placed in the real peace and not a false sense of security in a piece of paper. In fact I have a promise of this peace with my savior written in blood and apparently that will be how they have to sign this treaty, with blood and thier lives. Only real and true peace comes from above.

I believe, I hope, that

I believe, I hope, that Netanyahu was throwing that out there only because he KNOWS they are not really wanting peace. Meaning, it was a "wash" before he even said it because their govt. = Hamas. Maybe he was wanting to show the absurdity of the situation, and/or to appear more flexible to their critics. My gut says he was just moving a chess piece simply because it was his move. But the board is still locked up.

Not gonna happen. 1) Israel

Not gonna happen.

1) Israel is not going to give up Jerusalem. Palestinians won't talk a peace agreement without it.
2) Hamas will never recognize Israel's right to exist. Israel (rightly) expects to be acknowledges as a right to exist.
3) Israel will never accept the responsibility (rightly) to absorb all of the "refugees" that the arabs want to pour into Israel. But, Palestinians will never accept a single Jew living in "Palestine".
4) How are they supposed to negotiate with a government that says out of one side of their mouth that they want to secure a lasting peace but on the other side of their mouth they say that they only want peace long enough to rearm and wipe Israel off the map.
5) etc. etc. etc.

It's all one big non-starter. I honestly don't know what they have to talk about. It's gonna take the prophetic wars to give Israel the peace and security they have been looking for.

Great points, Harbinger.

Great points, Harbinger. Netanyahu knows the Palestinians will never accept anything less. He was also very much opposed to Ehud Barack giving away land in the December 2000 peace agreement that never happened. I am surprised Netanyahu would even bring this up, unless like someone said above it is a "move on the chess board", maybe a stall tactic, or a way to show the world that Palestinians really don't want peace.

I agree. As long as

I agree. As long as Netanyahu is calling the shots, there will be no more land gifts. It is interesting about his upcoming trip to the US. Unless things have changed, he will speak only to the House of Representatives. The Senate and WH both rebuffed him. Now why would they do that if Netanyahu was going to announce a "settlement" that was liberal based and satisfies the Israel haters?? My guess is that the announcement will be an entrenchment around Israel's rights and borders. This will no doubt enrage the ME. is a community of people who post news articles end editorials concerning Bible prophecy.
