As of this writing many of these players are becoming allies for the first time in history. Russia and Iran have never had an alliance in either of the nations history however in 2007 they formed an alliance for the first time. Russia has been in charged of getting Iran’s nuclear facilities built and running. Also Russia has recently sold a missile defense system to Iran stating that Iran has a right to defend itself. Sudan just in the last few months has formed alliances with both Russia and Iran, also something that has never happened before. A news story from allafrica.com dated October 15, 2011 states “Russia ready to step up military relations with south Sudan.” A news article from cnn.com dated September 26, 2011stated “Ahmadinejad says Iran, Sudan are allies against ‘powers of arrogance’”. Russia had an arms deal with Libya before Libya’s government has been over thrown and Qaddafi killed. Now it appears the Muslim brotherhood is poised to take control of the region and Russia has lost tens of billions in arms deal. In an article on bbc.com dated October 21, 2011 states Turkey and Iran are teaming up to battle against Kurdish rebels terrorizing the two countries. In addition an article from October 25, 2011 printed in turkishweekly.net evaluates the newly formed ties with Russia culminating with Russia giving Turkey a Missile Defense system. Finally Turkey and Sudan are forming bilateral relations according to a new article from allafrica.com
