Catholic Church No Longer Swears by Truth of the Bible
THE hierarchy of the Roman Catholic Church has published a teaching document instructing the faithful that some parts of the Bible are not actually true. The Catholic bishops of England, Wales and Scotland are warning their five million worshippers, as well as any others drawn to the study of scripture, that they should not expect “total accuracy” from the Bible.
“We should not expect to find in Scripture full scientific accuracy or complete historical precision,” they say in The Gift of Scripture. In the document, the bishops acknowledge their debt to biblical scholars. They say the Bible must be approached in the knowledge that it is “God’s word expressed in human language” and that proper acknowledgement should be given both to the word of God and its human dimensions. They say the Church must offer the gospel in ways “appropriate to changing times, intelligible and attractive to our contemporaries”. The Bible is true in passages relating to human salvation, they say, but continue: “We should not expect total accuracy from the Bible in other, secular matters.”
As examples of passages not to be taken literally, the bishops cite the early chapters of Genesis, comparing them with early creation legends from other cultures, especially from the ancient East. The bishops say it is clear that the primary purpose of these chapters was to provide religious teaching and that they could not be described as historical writing.
Similarly, they refute the apocalyptic prophecies of Revelation, the last book of the Christian Bible, in which the writer describes the work of the risen Jesus, the death of the Beast and the wedding feast of Christ the Lamb.

Wed, 01/11/2012 - 17:08DR - I usually post using the amplified version (with my notes on occasion)... My long term printed Bible I primarily use is a Parallel Bible "two column" with KJV on one side and the amplified version on the other...
My "Bible Thumper" app by Pat Double on my palm device I use constantly as it has KJV, Strong's Hebrew & Greek Concordance, Websters 1828 Dictionary, and Easton's Bible Dictionary on it... and is lightning fast to look up word meanings to get context reference ... It was actually after manually looking up word meanings, for a period of time, that I started getting more appreciation for the amplified version than I had in the past ... it helps me in shedding some light to pre Gen 11:7 action thinking / paleo hebrew
I will also use the four volume "Interlinear Bible" by JP Green Sr which is also keyed to KJV Strong Concordance #'s to see the original "modern" Hebrew lettering in conjunction with "The Ancient Hebrew Language and Alef Bet" by Jeff A. Benner as an invaluable reference to "paleo" Hebrew, Occasionaly I also reference George Lamsa's Holy Bible translation from the Aramaic of the Peshitta.

Wed, 01/11/2012 - 12:29for it has added portions that are not inspired or preserved by God. Their version of the Bible does contain enough truth that the gospel is declared if only they would read to believe. The root source for their translation is filled with contradictions within its self as well as known interjections that are not of the original manuscripts.
I still use the KJB. I learned a long time ago that it is not what people say they don,t understand in reading it; but that they don't like what they have read because it sheds light on their living. Others have watered down the Scriptures to make their compromise acceptable or for the ecumenicism as part of the final days preparation for the one world religion.

if they don't understand the Bible, is because the Lord has not allow them to understand for He sees the wickedness of their hearts. Simple as that. not everybody can read the Bible.

Thu, 02/23/2012 - 19:40I wouldn't say they are fake for they are historical in nature. they are not canonized for that reason primarily. They don't understand the Bible because the Word of God is spiritually discerned 1Co 2:14. If they desired to know the truth they would be given it as was the house hold of Cornelius in Acts 10.
They are held in the blindness of sin because they are religious but unsaved. What I do not understand is those that claim to be saved and stay in that false religion I am convinced are not saved at all.
