'Buy farmland and gold,' advises Dr Doom
The world's most powerful investors have been advised to buy farmland, stock up on gold and prepare for a "dirty war by Marc Faber, the notoriously bearish market pundit, who predicted the 1987 stock market crash.
The bleak warning of social and financial meltdown, delivered today in Tokyo at a gathering of 700 pension and sovereign wealth fund managers.
Dr Faber, who advised his audience to pull out of American stocks one week before the 1987 crash and was among a handful who predicted the more recent financial crisis, vies with the Nouriel Roubini, the economist, as a rival claimant for the nickname Dr Doom.
Speaking today, Dr Faber said that investors, who control billions of dollars of assets, should start considering the effects of more disruptive events than mere market volatility.
"The next war will be a dirty war, he told fund managers: "What are you going to do when your mobile phone gets shut down or the internet stops working or the city water supplies get poisoned?
His investment advice, which was the first keynote speech of CLSA's annual investment forum in Tokyo, included a suggestion that fund managers buy houses in the countryside because it was more likely that violence, biological attack and other acts of a "dirty war would happen in cities.

What do you all think about
Mon, 03/01/2010 - 17:04What do you all think about this 'buy farmland and gold' preparation plan from a Christian / Biblical perspective?
farmland
Tue, 03/02/2010 - 11:34Well I'm safe I am on 5 acres of land in New Brunswick lol but the best part is that GOD will protect us all
Help Others
Tue, 03/02/2010 - 13:04My take on the "buy farmland & gold" idea is that even though we trust that God will protect us and provide for us, it never hurts to be smart, have plan and be able to help others. If we have farmland and gold, allowing us to be less impacted by some of the "dirty war" plans he speaks of, doesn't that in turn allow us to be available to help others?
We shouldn't stock up on all these worldy things being scared for our lives, we should stock up so that we can reach more people and be a source God's love and hope during times of hardship.
help others
Tue, 03/02/2010 - 19:28You see I totally refuse to be bound to material possessions that would leave a very heavy burden on your shoulders one weight I'm not willing to take on and as for helping others I do my fair tich to help with the little I have to offer! I have 10 laying hens that most of the eggs we give away. to me those hens aren't mine but belong to GOD almighty
For better or for worst?
Sun, 03/07/2010 - 12:17Someone brought it to my attention, if we were not to pay our property taxes we would realize that we don't really own it; this was an eye opener for me. When the time comes to be marked so that a person could or could not buy and sell this would put us in a position to forfeit anything that would have dealings with buying and selling. I often thought of preparing for the worst and still not sure if it's a good or bad idea. Preparing for the better is what we are doing by staying in God's word and trusting in him for all good things. He said he did not come to harm us but to prosper us, he is a loving God. I know he has taken all of us through many troubles already and he always will. We make our best decision according to his word and he makes it work out for us in his way. There are many scriptures that claim his love for us.
John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
1 Peter 3:13
And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good?
John 14:23
Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
Trusting God For Wisdom
Sun, 03/07/2010 - 14:14I am not sure if I would stock up on farmland and gold. This would be something that I would have to pray for guidance and wisdom for. The Bible does teach that God will protect His people no matter where they are. I can see where farmland and gold could be a burden and a blessing. I think making a decision at a time like this would require true wisdom from the Lord. I often wonder how much we will get to witness before the rapture takes place and we are no longer here. I don't know if we will be here for the full economic crash to stock up on gold. I would think that when the economy fully collapses that would put the new world order into effect and we should be "in heaven" at that time.
I guess the bottomline in my opinion is to seek wisdom and the face of God before I would make a decision as such. He knows the plans that He has made for each of us and He is the only one that could direct us. For some it may be His will, and for others He might have something else in store.
